The 2015 World Forum for Democracy engaged with young people, decision-makers and opinion-formers in a reflection on democratic security challenges. Over 500 participants from the 21 Schools of Political Studies attended the event.
In the framework of the main programme, the Schools of Political Studies from Bulgaria, Greece, Morocco and Tunisia co-organised a Lab session on the theme “A call for effective and just migration policies in Europe” which took place on Thursday 19 November from 2 to 3.30 p.m. In the context of the refugee crisis unfolding in Europe since the summer of 2015, the lab explored migration processes and political options at hand for introducing effective and just migration policies and for linking their implementation to human rights and the rule of law, and to the future of Europe. It also presented specific initiatives for refugees in transit and destination countries and a perspective from Northern Africa.
In addition to the main programme, special side events for School participants included visits to the European Court of Human Rights, Speed Networking events, regional and bilateral meetings and a Diploma Ceremony with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe.
